STITCH

This is a kind of a weird piece, but it exemplifies my artistic approach I believe. I started with the idea of visualizing an abstraction involving stitching and holding things together, then in the middle of work, I cracked a piece of the glass. I was really disheartened, but after staring at the panel for a long time, I came up with the idea of adding copper wire across the pieces "nodes", the initial one, which was meant to hide the crack (the glass that cracked should not have cracked - it was very bizarre - it just cracked with no justifiable cause-effect reaction), but ironically it served as the inspiration for the next level of the piece, expanding on the stitch theme.

The color to this panel is more subdued than my other work, but it demonstrates the manner in which I like to mix-and-match direction and momentum. I also continue on the theme of taking geometric shapes and making unnatural cut-outs that can only be done with special tools (an artistic idea I came upon working with the piece "Broken"). This panel is surrounded by an interesting type of art glass with embedded differing-colored glass and streamers, giving a look of surrounding chaos.
